Advt for New Distributorship15 March 2012
SAFE-n-SWIFT 258, A.B.Road, Dewas (M.P.)455001 To, The President All India LPG Dealers Federation Mumbai. Dear Sir, Sub : Proposed LPG distributorship at Dewas (M.P.) M/s. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd have advertised in Newspaper ‘ Patrika’ asking applications for LPG Distributorship at Dewas M.P. We call your attention to the following facts about Dewas : M/s Gas Authority of India Ltd ( GAIL) have laid Natural Gas Pipeline in the some area of the city and surrounding industrial areas. They have already started giving PNG connection in the city from Aug 2011 and already have 500 + connection and the list is growing. Our consumers have already started surrendering LPG connections. GAIL is planning to cover the whole city by March 2012 ( 4 months from now). PNG being cheaper, we expect our consumer holding to fall drastically. The population of Dewas is about 3,20,000. There are five Gas distributors in Dewas with a combined customer holding of about 80,000. There are three RGGLV on the periphery of the city and 5 more are in the offing. HPCL have already given one LOI for Dewas city in Oct. 2011. With these facts we humbly submit that a new distributorship is not viable/justified because : PNG being cheaper option, there will be a mass conversion of consumers using LPG to PNG. GAIL a PSU is expanding there facilities very fast. We are fighting a loosing battle in the Commercial LPG sales. Many of our big consumers have already shifted to PNG. There is no industrial growth in and around Dewas and hence the city is stagnant. Further, Dewas being very near to Indore, people prefer to live in Indore and commute to Dewas. Thus there is very little demand of new LPG connections. The scenario ( of PNG/LNG v/s LPG) was presented to the representatives of OMCs and PNG Ministry at the Mumbai Convention where in it was said that ‘No new LPG Distributors should be proposed in the cities where piped natural gas is marketed’ Under the circumstances we need your active help to convince the OMCs to withdraw the proposal of new distributorship at Dewas. Since the proposal has been only advertised, it can be withdrawn. An urgent action in the matter will be highly appreciated. Thanking you, Safe N Swift Manindra Chandrasen.
